Outreach

Our Outreach Team operates in the Lower Mountains - they utilise a range of youth and community work methods to develop purposeful interactions with vulnerable young people. They engage young people in their own territory such as streets, cafes and parks at times that are appropriate to the young people. The Team also work with other services to develop and deliver programs and activates designed to promote the health, safety and resilience of young people.

Outreach workers aim to:

  1. Develop a range of strategies for working with young people in response to their perceived needs, through both detached outreach work and via Centre programs

  2. Initiate and maintain contact with vulnerable young people

  3. Provide support and advice to young people experiencing difficulties,      such as family problems, unemployment, illness, drug abuse and homelessness

  4. Assist young people to access other supports and services

  5. Provide information about community services and resources available for young people

  6. Arrange referrals to other services such as counselling, housing, education, legal advice

  7. Identify and highlight gaps and deficiencies in existing services

  8. Work with other agencies to develop new responses and services for young people
